Talespinner is currently accepting resumes and portfolios for our 25-26 season.
Each rehearsal process lasts roughly five to seven weeks depending on the type and run length of the production. Rehearsals are scheduled four times a week, typically three on the weekday and one the weekend. They last between four and five hours. There are roughly six to eight performances for mainstage productions, and roughly 10-12 performances for YAS series productions. Each production will have at least four production meetings, held over zoom, in person at TCT’s location at 78th Street Studios, or on site at the performance venue when the production takes place elsewhere.
Production staff should be prepared to be present at least one rehearsal early in the process, the designer run through and tech week, unless otherwise noted in the description.

Available positions and expectations
Stage Managers are required to attend all rehearsals, production meetings are performances. They provide practical and organizational support to the director and production team. They will facilitate communication across creative and technical departments through daily calls, rehearsal reports, production reports and performance reports. They will oversee sets, props, lights and sound as well as run the boards during performances.
Technical Director is a position that could be a half season contract or a full season contract for the 24-25 Season. They will be responsible for overseeing and participating in the carpentry work for each production. They will be responsible for load in and out, technical support and coordinating with the venue for technical rehearsals. They are required to attend production meetings and technical rehearsals.
Set Designer is responsible for the design, rendering, plans and some building for the scenic elements of the production. They are required to attend production meetings, designer run through and at a minimum of one technical rehearsal.
Carpenter is a position with the most flexible hours/commitment. They will be responsible for building the set pieces for each production. This can be a single show, half season or full season contract. They will not be required to attend rehearsals or production meetings, but will need to provide status reports to the Technical Director, which can be done in person, over text or through email.
Props Designer is responsible for the design, pulling, creating and purchasing all props for the production. They will be responsible for keeping track of their expenses. They are required to attend production meetings, designer run through and some technical rehearsals.
Lighting Designers are responsible for designing, focus and programming the lights for the production. They are required to attend production meetings, designer run through and technical rehearsals.
Costume Designers are responsible for the design, pulling, creating and purchasing all costumes from the production. They will be responsible for keeping track of their expenses. They will be expected to gather measurements as well as schedule and conduct fittings for the cast. Once performances have started, they are required to launder and return the costumes once a week. They are required to attend production meetings, fittings, designer run through and some technical rehearsals.
Accessibility Designers are responsible for attending some rehearsals and production meetings in order to provide guidance and suggestions to create a production that serves a variety of audience members. Accessibility designers will be tasked with the following: multi-sensory lobby display, open captions, developing audio description script, working with ASL interpreters on placement and ensuring they have all necessary information, placement and use of trigger warning lights, access tools/patron services, and additional specific designs as each production calls for.
